| About Dr. Short | ||
I completed pre-med course work at the University of Maryland in 1983 after receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 1980. I studied medicine in Boston, Massachusetts at the Massachusetts General Hospital; in addition I trained at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital, Beth Israel Hospital, Deaconess Medical Center, and the Mt. Auburn Hospital graduating Harvard Medical School in 1989. My professional experience has been in New York City working in the field of Occupational Medicine.
I practice both alternative and conventional medicine in an environment that emphasizes the quality of a person’s life, investigating and treating the cause of illness, not only the symptoms. Particularly encouraging is the opportunity to work with individual children, parents and families to facilitate their need to help those who suffer from developmental and learning delays, and/or behavioral problems, and unexplained/unresolved medical problems.
After joining this practice, I have been alarmed at the number of children and families affected with significant environmental allergies/food allergies, Autism Spectrum Disorders and other related developmental delays. Children diagnosed with Autism, ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), Gastroesophageal Reflux, Allergies, Environmental/Chemical Sensitivities and other oftentimes related illnesses have the potential for treatment, often reducing or eliminating irritating, disturbing or alarming symptoms. The improvements I have seen with the current and emerging treatments that address the underlying physiology, pathology and biochemistry of the body’s multiple systems have been astounding. If as an adult you recognize yourself as a child who was not treated for a condition as described above, we offer adults care as well.
My objective in this practice is to help all of my patients achieve good health and quality of life. And as a partnership, my patient and I can determine the optimum plan to best care and treat the whole individual with the many resources now available to us. I am honored to participate in guiding families’ determination to find answers to improve their overall health.
